Jagged edges of despair climb out
As brown eyes close in to envelop its gray shadows

Sorrow pours out freely
As waiting arms offer no questions, just solace

Finally sleep comes peacefully
As an unconditional heart wraps it with love.

My heart fair broke
As it heard the words you spoke

You said goodbye
And my breath died on a sigh

You walked away
And everything faded, even night and day

Tears filled my eyes
Stabbing me like pinpoint lies

My senses turned silent
Drowned out by a pain so violent

My soul bled
It knew not where our road ultimately led.
