The return of FBI operative Topolsky (Julie Benz) sparks tension and dissension among the alien trio and their human allies. Michael (Brendan Fehr) insists that her threat is just another plot to trap them, but Liz and Alex fear Topolsky may be telling the truth. The others side with Michael, whose agitation increases when Isabel befriends a new student---who Michael suspects is another Government plant.

Tess shows the teens some pages of a book from their home planet; these contain sketches of Max (Jason Behr) paired with Tess and Michael with Isabel, in what may be predetermined couplings. The revelation heightens tensions between Isabel and Michael, who have shared an intense erotic dream. Unsure of how their alien physiology works, Isabel fears she may now be pregnant with Michael's baby. Meanwhile, Max's human girlfriend, Liz, is imperiled when shape-shifting Nasedo takes on Max's form and kidnaps her. It's all part of a plan to trap FBI agent Pierce.
