AFI Fest Opens With A 'Dark Blue World'
November 2, 2001

HOLLYWOOD (Zap2it.com) - A star-studded premiere turned out for the gripping
WWII film "Dark Blue World" Thursday at the opening of the AFI Fest 2001.

Notables such as Jason Behr, Jennifer Blanc, Wes Craven, Dana Daurey, Faye
Dunaway, Ali Landry, Mary Stuart Masterson, Lindsay Williams and other stars
were on the list to be at the Grauman's Chinese Theatre in the heart of
Hollywood with the cast and crew of the film about two Czech spitfire
pilots.

AFI director Jean Firstenberg and festival director Christian Gaines were
also in attendance along with director Jan Serak who wowwed audiences with
the Oscar-winning film "Kolya."

The film stars Tara Fitzgerald, Ondrej Vetchy, Krystof Hadek, Charles Dance,
Oldrich Kaiser and is described as a richly human tale about the pilots
serving together in the British Royal Air Force during the Battle of Britain
and then finding themselves in love with the same woman.

AFI is one of the fastest growing films ever, and the premiere international
film festival in Los Angeles. Each year the festival has grown and there is
talk with uniting it with other festivals in the Los Angeles area.
