Dido Does it differently - by ritchie yorke

If you're a chart follower, you could hardly help but
notice the purcity of Britpop on the US top 50
albums list.
The Yanks just dont seem to dig what the poms
are doing anymore, outside the transatlantic
comfort zone of the Betals, U2, Sade and Enya.
All of witch makes Dido so delicously different.
Her year old debut album No Angel is the fastest
moving new title on the US top 20, No11 in the UK
and it's released here tomorrow. (jan 22nd)

the article goes on to sy who and from where Dido
is from etc... we've all heard it b4, plus there was a
rather nice shot of Dido I have seen b4 but it goes
to show that even here in oz she is know... pity that
the ceedee is like $30au.... makes me want to put
a sign up in HMV right next to where they are
displayed telling ppl to go to cdnow cause its
cheaper :)

Thanks to firespitter for this :)

I saw this on the new Glamour magazine. 2001 Feb.

Englands Dido Armstrong-The singer-songwriter whose ethereal harmonies
have been compared to Sarah McLachlan-has Amercian to thank for boosting her
1999 debut album,No Angle, to platinum sales. Since "Here With Me" become
the theme to the WB's hit Roswell and "Thank You" was sampled in Eminem's
rap song "Stan" the star has lost her anonymity.
"It's all over now" she laughs.

Thanks to zaphod for this :)

I don't know if anyone has sent this in already, but Nettwerk now has Dido-related
items for sale, including clothing, "No Angel" and the Christmas album she appeared
on.

Thanks to Candygirl for this :)

I found this as a part of an article on the soundtrack for the movie
"Bounce." I don't know if the author knew "Here With Me" was the theme song
for Roswell or not. -Candygirl

Then there's Dido's Here With Me, which starts with almost the same opening
chords as Need To Be Next To You and the lyrics virtually say the same thing
-- but don't all love songs?
"I am what I am/I'll do what I want/but I can't hide/I won't go/I won't
see/I can't breathe until your resting here with me/I wont leave/I can't
hide…"
This song has been played periodically on radio stations across the country
and on it's own, away from the rest of the CD, is actually quite nice. It
sounds slightly unique, well as unique as love songs can sound, with a beat
like something out of Twin Peaks or Roswell.
