Sometimes good things do come to those who wait -just ask dido. In 1999
the Londoner (full name: Dido Arnstrong) released her debut CD, No Angel, to
little fanfare. Three months later singer-songwriter's caeer was going
nowhere fast when the track "Here with me" was tapped to be the theme song to
the WB science fiction drama Roswell. An even bigger boast came when eminem
sampled another No angel cut, the haunting ballad "thank you" on his song
"stan" "I was jumpiing up and down in my hotel room" says Dido,28, recalling
the first time she heard the finished product, "I just went running down the
corridor I was sooo excited" the eminem single has since become an acclaimed
hit so it makes sense the Dido-who appears in the "stan" video with eminem
and actor Devon Sawa (he plays slim shady obessed title character)-has
released "thank you" as a single on her own "its a love song about havinf a
bad day" she explains "then (that special person) calls and that feeling of
excitment it gives takes precedence over everything" Inspirations to write
the tune came to dido in a rather unexpected place. "I was in the bath with a
very soggy bit of paper" she says "i've still got the paper. Its
water-stained and there are blurry buts on it"

Boy, Dido is everywhere these days! Literally five minutes ago, during a
love scene on the ABC soap opera "Port Charles," Dido's song "My Life" was
playing in the background, provoking an immediate double-take on my part. My
girlfriend, in the next room, recognized the song as well.

Dido has been choosen as Best New Artist in the Readers' Picks according to the Rolling Stones magazine of January 18, 2001

In the new Rolling Stone issue with U2 on the cover, there is a section
entitled The Rolling Stone Music Awards 2000 on pages 42-46. In the Readers'

Picks section under the category "Best New Artist" it has Dido winning,
followed by Nelly and Papa Roach. However, in the Critics' Picks section it
has At The Drive-In winning, followed by Papa Roach and Jill Scott.
