Various Information On Dido

Thanks to Maya for this! :)

On MTV's special "How to Save the Last Dance" about the movie "Save the Last Dance", there was a short blurb where Dido was commenting on Eminem's "Stan" and the merging of different styles (Because the host of the show, KK Holiday, was talking about how the movie was a cross between hip-hop and ballet, etc, and different artists were shown talking about different styles of music and crosses).

Thanks to Samantha for this :)

Just to let everyone know, Dido was singing "Stan" with Eminem on Saturday Night Live tonight (Dec 30). It was a repeat. I had heard the promo that Eminem was going to be on and was planning on watching it (forgetting that she was guest starring as the musical guest, otherwise I would have sent this in ahead of time and taped it!) but had already missed most of the program I turned on the TV and they were in the middle of perfoming. But don't worry, I'm pretty sure they'll repeat it soon.

I typed up this
article about Dido from the Februrary issue of "Teen People" on page 46. It
also has a cute picture with it. Heres the article--

"Know the Words- 'Thankyou,' by Dido"

Sometimes good things do come to those that wait-- just ask Dido. In 1999 the
Londdoner (full name: Dido Armstrong) released her debut CD, No Angel, to
little fanfare. Three months later the singer-songwriter's career was going
nowhere fast when the track "Here With Me" was tapped to be the theme song to
the WB science-fiction drama Roswell. An even bigger boost came when Eminem
sampled another No Angel cut, the haunting ballad "Thankyou," on his song
"Stan". "I was jumping up and down in my hotel room!" says Dido, 28 recalling
the first time she heard the finished product. "I just went running down the
corridor, I was so excited." The Eminem single has since became an acclaimed
hit, so it makes sense that Dido--who appears in the "Stan" video with Eminem
and actor Devon Sawa (he plays the Slim Shady obsessed title character)-- has
released "Thankyou" as a single on her own. "Its a love song about having a
bad day," she explains. "Then [that special person] calls you and that
feeling of excitement it gives you takes precedence over
everything."Inspiration to write the tune came to Dido in a very unexpected
place. "I was in the bath with a very soggy bit of paper,"she says. "Ive
still got the paper. It's [water-stained] and there are blurry bits on it."
Good thing we're got a clear copy to the lyrics below.

And then they put the lyrics for "Thankyou" in.

I was listening to Z100 because they had Top 100 Songs in 2000. So I stayed
on the radio to listen to the Top 100 songs. I hoped there would be Dido on
it and a minute later! Dido comes on! Dido is # 88 for the Top 100 for 2000!
I was like OMG! I kinda knew it would be on the list but I didn't know it
would actually happen, ya know??
