"THE JOB," A NEW ABC SERIES STARRING DENIS LEARY, STARTS PRODUCTION IN NEW YORK AND NEW JERSEY Production has begun on "The Job," a new, single-camera, half-hour comedy series starring cutting-edge actor-comedian Denis Leary ("The Thomas Crown Affair," "The Ref"). Shot entirely on location in New York and New Jersey, the program unites Leary with Emmy Award-winning writer Peter Tolan ("The Larry Sanders Show") to create a new comedy series about Mike McNeil (Leary), a jaded New York City detective whose toughest assignment is himself. He's a crass, cynical chain smoker struggling to balance a challenging personal life with a job that leaves him wondering on a daily basis if he is the last sane person in New York. His unconventional approach to his job makes him a great cop, even on the most trying days. Luckily, he has a group of co-workers who tolerate his stubborn will and reluctantly enjoy his acerbic wit and disdain for authority. The only thing he can't figure out is why, if he's the only sane guy around, everyone's always looking at him like he's crazy. Also starring are Lenny Clarke as Frank Harrigan, Diane Farr as Jan Fendrich, Adam Ferrara as Tommy Manetti, Bill Nunn as Walter "Pip" Phillips and John Ortiz as Ruben Sommariba. Guest starring are Julian Acosta as Al Rodriguez, Keith David as Lieutenant Williams, Janet Hubert as Adinah Phillips, Wendy McKenna as Karen McNeil and Karyn Parsons as Toni. "The Job" will air midseason 2000-2001. Peter Tolan, Denis Leary, Lauren Corrao and Jim Serpico are executive producers. The series is from DreamWorks Television and Touchstone Television Productions, LLC, in association with Apostle and The Cloudland Company. |
