Most kids would be ecstatic to see a long-lost parent they'd yearned to meet their whole lives. But when Max and Isabel's mom dropped by on last season's finale of WB's Roswell, her visit resulted in a mixed bag of emotions among the drama's trio of alien teens and their three human pals.

On one hand, extraterrestrials Max (Jason Behr), Isabel (Katherine Heigl) and Michael (Brendan Fehr) finally learned why they were on Earth. On the other hand, the revelations also indicated that their destinies definitely shouldn't include their respective nonalien honeys Liz (Shiri Appleby), Alex (Colin Hanks) and Maria (Majandra Delfino). That news upset the show's characters and fans.

Behr and Hanks claim no knowledge of upcoming storylines, but Hanks thinks the possible demise of the passionate pairings might not be such a bad thing. "It adds that interesting dynamic," he says. "That's why we did it. I want to see all the characters grow. We've been on for a year now. If everyone stayed the same, there'd be nothing there."
