Coreen Mayrs checks out
a lot of new faces from
behind her black-framed
glasses and the Vancouver
casting director has a reputation
for picking the right ones.
She tapped future stars Carly
Pope and Brendan Fehr for small
roles in the thriller Disturbing
Behavior, before Pope went on to
star in TV's Popular and Fehr joined
the alienated teens on Roswell.
"The day Brendan walked into my
office, I called his agent and and said 'I'm
going to make him a star,' " Mayrs
says, in a three-room office that's
crammed with tapes and papered
with pictures of would-be stars. "It
doesn't happen often but when you
feel it, you really feel it - there's a
thoughtful serious quality that goes
beyond just good looks."
