(As the words begin, Maria is walking through the desert, eyes transfixed on a point in the distance, arms wrapped around herself. She walks slowly, but resolutely-- she knows where she's going, and she knows why. But her eyes are pained.)

"I knew that this moment would come in time
That I'd have to let go and watch you fly
I know you're coming back so why am I dying inside"

(Michael is crouching on a sandy hill, overlooking the scrub brush and cacti of the early-evening desert. He gazes off into the horizon, unseeing.)

"Are you searching for words that you can't find"

(he looks down, blinks, and swallows hard)

"Trying to hide your emotions but eyes don't lie"

(he looks up again)

"Guess there's no easy way to say goodbye"

(Scene switches back to Maria. We are looking from behind her, and we see her view of Michael. His back is to her-- he doesn't see her approach)

"So I'll be standing at the edge of the earth"

(Maria pauses)

"Hoping that someday you'll come back again"

(she begins walking again, faster now)

"I'll be standing at the edge of the earth Hoping for someday..."

"Don't misunderstand what I'm trying to say"

(Scene switches back to Michael. He looks quickly over his shoulder. He knows someone is there, but he doesn't acknowledge them)

"I don't want to let you leave this way"

(He stands, and turns)

"I want you to know that I stand right by your side"

(Maria freezes at the base of the hill, looking up at him. Camera view keeps switching between her and Michael, circling around them, melding their images together.)

"And I know this may be
The very last time that we see each other cry
But whatever happens know that I'll... "

"I'll be"

(Maria starts up the hill, and Michael moves slightly towards her)

"standing at the edge of the earth
Hoping that one day you'll come back again I'll be"

(she gets to the top, and Michael meets her there, his hands reaching out to cup her face as hers stroke up his chest)

"standing at the edge of the earth

You'll come back to me
I'll be"

(We see a close-up of Michael, as he strokes her golden hair, his eyes focused on the soft strands.)

"praying for whatever it's worth
Believing that one day you'll come back to me"

(Now a close up of Maria. Her eyes are closed, her head tilting in toward his chest. She is barely breathing)

"I'll be standing at the edge of the earth Hoping for someday"

(Maria looks up. Michael looks down. Their eyes meet. The camera switches between close ups of their faces.)

"And I know this may be
The very last time that we see each other cry
But whatever happens know that I'll..."

"I'll be"

(they come together in an incredibly passionate kiss, his hands cupping her face, hers slipping around his neck.)

"standing at the edge of the earth
Hoping that one day you'll come back again"

(the camera circles around them, its speed echoing the intensity of their kiss)

"I'll be standing at the edge of the earth
Hoping that someday
You'll come back to me"

(They pull apart and gaze into each other's eyes)

"I'll be praying for whatever it's worth
Believing that one day you'll come back to me
I'll be standing at the edge of the earth Hoping for someday"

(Without a word, Michael turns and bolts, flying through the scrub brush. Maria makes no move to stop him. She doesn't even watch him leave. Her eyes close.)

(As the words continue, the camera switches between them: Michael running, Maria standing alone on the hilltop. The camera circles Maria in each of her shots, but stays steady on Michael for his.)

"Waiting for someday Believing in someday
Praying for someday, I'll be...
Longing for someday Clinging to someday
Cherishing someday, I'll be...
Thinking of someday Dreaming of someday
Wishing for someday, I'll be...
Living for someday Counting on someday
Knowing that one day..."

(Michael stops and swirls around, looking back towards where he's just left. He pauses, then turns and begins to run again)

(We see Maria. A single tear rolls down her cheek.)
