Category: Other Rating: PG Authors Note: A few weeks ago I saw a post on one of the message boards about possible theme songs for the characters and couples, and then the other day I was listening to some of my CD's when I realized that a bunch of them fit Roswell perfectly. And I thought, hey! why not write a music fic? It's certainly easier than writing a normal story since you don't have to worry about plot, and it's a great way to pass the time till next episode! So I thought I'd share my first attempt to see what you guys think. It's for all you Alex and Isabel fans who've been complaining about the lack of stuff about them, written to the lyrics of Alanis Morrisette's "Head Over Feet." Think of it as a music video--for each line of the song there is a scene description that goes with it. If you have the song it helps if you play it and try to picture the scenes happening.... |

| The scene opens at Roswell High, where Isabel is sitting on the bleachers with Max and Michael. Zoom in on Isabel’s face…. I had no choice but to hear you Isabel watches Alex pleading with Liz and Maria, trying to find out why they can’t talk to him. She sees the hurt on his face and looks away…. You stated your case time and again Alex finally gives Liz an ultimatum, and walks away…. I thought about it Isabel sits in the jeep with Max after Alex and Liz are arrested. She tells him she thinks they can trust Alex…. You treat me like I’m a princess Alex kisses Isabel’s hand in his dream sequence. She is surprised, and smiles shyly…. I’m not used to liking that Isabel walks away in disgust from a group of jocks who undoubtedly have "mauling" on their minds…. You ask how my day was Alex bumps into Isabel leaving school and flashes a friendly grin…. Chorus: You’ve already won me over in spite of me Isabel watches her likeness dancing with Alex in his dream sequence. In spite of her shock she can’t stop the slow smile spreading over her face… Don’t be alarmed if I fall head over feet Alex swings her into a low dip…. Don’t be surprised if I love you for all that you are Isabel asks Alex to go to the rave with her. He can’t believe she’s talking to him, much less inviting him to a party…. I couldn’t help it Isabel watches in fascination as Alex leans in to kiss her in his dream…. It’s all your fault She feels herself falling for him and closes her eyes to escape, even though she knows it’s too late….
Your love is thick and it swallowed me whole In his dream Alex takes Isabel’s hand, and she twirls towards him, swallowed by his arms…. You’re so much braver than I gave you credit for Alex faces Sheriff Valenti in the jail cell, demanding to be released and threatening to get a lawyer…. That’s not lip service Isabel looks at Alex with new eyes when she learns what he has done….

Thanks for your patience As a harmonica plays the melody in the background Isabel looks back on all the times she caught Alex watching her, waiting for her to notice his existence: *flash* Alex’s face lights up in a smile as Isabel walks into a class they have together…. *flash* Alex sits with Liz and Maria in the school courtyard at lunch, but he isn’t listening to them. Instead, he watches Isabel walking by with a group of her friends. She feels his eyes upon her and pretends not to notice, though she is secretly flattered…. *flash* Alex is unlocking his bike when Max and Isabel drive by in the jeep. He is surprised to see her turn around to look at him staring after her…. *flash* Isabel comes around a corner at school and almost runs into Alex. He apologizes and starts to walk away, but she reaches for his hand as the last notes of the harmonica fade out….
You’re the best listener that I’ve ever met Isabel is sitting with Alex at a booth in the Crashdown, confiding her fears about Sheriff Valenti…. You’re my best friend He comforts her and she gives him a grateful smile…. Best friend with benefits Isabel reaches for his hand on the table and intertwines her fingers with his…. What took me so long? She meets his eyes and smiles at the love she sees there, knowing it is finally reflected in her own…. I’ve never felt this healthy before Max and Liz, Michael and Maria have joined them in the booth. Isabel is laughing at something Alex said. Max smiles to see his sister so happy, and even Michael looks relaxed…. I’ve never wanted something rational Isabel remembers all the times she pushed people away, always wanting to keep her distance…. I am aware now She smiles around the table at the friends surrounding her, as if she were any normal teenager…. I am aware now Isabel knows she is no longer alone, no longer different. She turns to Alex at her side and gives him the special smile she saves just for him….
